Problems Registering or Logging-in?

For technical reasons, there are three separate services, each with its own individual UserID and Password requirements. Please refer to the appropriate notes below if you are having problems registering with or logging into any of these services. If the following notes do not resolve your problem, please e-mail the office at Clayton House using the "Contact Us" menu option.

Passwords

Please remember that passwords are usually case-sensitive and if your password is, for example, "grosvenor", then "Grosvenor" will not be accepted. All three systems provide facilities to obtain a password reminder, and this is mailed to the user's e-mail address as registered on that system..

Member Area

The member area contains a number of data sources, the access to which is controlled by a UserID and password. To access the member area you must first register by clicking the link Sign up to access the Member Area You will be asked to enter your membership number and to select a password and to enter your e-mail address. You will then be asked to enter your name and address. When registration is completed, your application will be submitted for authorisation and you will receive an e-mail to confirm registration. This may take several days as it requires human intervention. If confirmation is not received within seven days, this may be because we have failed to process it in time or because your e-mail address contained an error. In this case you should submit a new application. The e-mail will contain your UserID and password and should be saved for future reference.

If you are registered and your login attempt has failed, this is likely to be because your UserID and password were not recognised. Please try again. Remember your UserID is your MLFHS membership number without the "A" or "B" suffix which attaches to family membership numbers. Remember also that the password is case-sensitive so if you created it in lower case you MUST enter it in lower case to log in. If you have forgotten your password, you can ask for a new one to be issued (sorry, the software does not currently allow a reminder to be sent, a change is forced).

If you believe you entered your UserID and password correctly, do you use Internet Explorer 7 (IE7)? If so and you have not been able to enter the member area since registering or since upgrading to IE7, CLICK HERE for more information.

Members Interest Entry

Members Interests Entry allows members to access the members interests database and add, delete or modify their entries. Access is controlled by a UserID and password. The UserID is your membership number (without A/B suffix in the case of family members).

Members up to number 17947 have been pre-registered with a password which consists of their membership number followed by the first three letters of their surname (in UPPER CASE) so that if member number 1234 was John Smith, his password would be 1234SMI. Family members should not include the A/B suffix to their numbers and must log in under a common number. The default password can (and should) be changed once the member has signed in.

Newer members, with membership numbers 17948 onwards, may register using their membership number and any password they wish. Measures are applied to minimise the chances of non-members registering on the system.

A facility is provided to send out a password reminder to your registered e-mail address. This will only work if you have used the facility provided to enter your e-mail address after logging in (or for members who had previously given permission for the use of their e-mail address).

MLFHS E-mail Group

The e-mail group allows members to post messages to a central server which then distributes copies to all registered members. Members must register to join the list and can subsequently log-in to amend their details and switch mail delivery on and off as required. Click here to join the list or to change your list details You will be asked to provide your e-mail address, which becomes your UserID, and a password.

Applications to join the list require human intervention so once having submitted your application, you may have to wait several days before receiving a confirmation e-mail. This e-mail contains a link which must be clicked to complete the process. Your welcome e-mail will contain details of your UserID and password. You will receive a monthly e-mail which also contains these details. It is useful to save a copy for future reference.

There is a facility to have a password reminder mailed to your registered e-mail address.
